Mike has wanted to do a bug for a long time, from a mild daily driver to a wild Unlimited Class 5 car with a new Beetle body. The end result is somewhere in between.
The '68 Bug was found on one of the VW classified web sites, it was a good start on a Baja Bug. A lot of the standard modifications had already been made but then one of the many previous owners decided to turn it into a rat rod style Bug that is becoming popular. It was dropped to the ground, seats were mounted right to the belly pan and some hot rod styling cues were added. On the good side one of the previous owners wanted to race the car, the top was cut off, a Class 5 style cage was added, front discs, one peice tilt fiberglass front end, rear fenders, side bars, a very stout engine cage and more. The car needed a lot but Mike fell in love.
We called up our CORR Pro Lite driver, Casey Currie to go check the car out as it was just around the corner from his shop. After some tough negotiation Casey had the old owner down to $2000. SOLD
